The Coalition for Support Law Reform is a group of men and women living
throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia who want to see Virginia’s
laws concerning spousal support changed so that they will be brought into
conformity with the realities of the modern world.
Since its founding in 1996, the Coalition has been active in advocating
and supporting the passage of legislation to change Virginia’s laws.
In the future, the Coalition will continue to:
- Work for the passage of improved, more
equitable, and more just laws that better
serve the needs of modern society.
- Pursue the diligent application of these new laws and monitor the results of their application to determine whether the intent of the laws has been followed.
- Work to advocate rational, balanced decisions by the courts - decisions that reflect sensitivity to the needs of all.
- Work to alleviate and ultimately to eliminate gender bias in Virginia's courts.
